Tourist Development Tax Sports Incentive Committee

Enabling Legislation:
The Tourist Development Tax Sports Incentive Committee was created by Resolution No. 2017-M-43, adopted by the Board of County Commissioners on October 31, 2017.
Membership:
Seven members, each of whom shall be registered voters in Orange County, Florida.
Member Types:
Term Of Office:
The terms of appointment shall be for three years to expire on December 31st of the third year of the term of office. However, to provide for staggered terms, the terms of office for the initial members of the Sports Incentive Committee, shall be as follows:
1. The initial term of office for the citizen representative, the Visit Orlando representative and the International Drive Resort Area Chamber of Commerce representative shall expire on December 31st of the second year of the term
2. The initial term of office for the Mayor's representative, the certified public accountant representative, the theme park representative and the Central Florida Hotel and Lodging Association representative shall expire on December 31st of the third year of the term.
Membership on the Sport Incentive Committee shall be limited to 2 consecutive full terms. A vacancy occurring during a term shall be filled by the Board for remainder of the unexpired term. Each member shall hold office until a successor has been appointed.
Powers and Duties:
The Sports Incentive Committee shall, with the professional assistance of Visit Orlando, review applications for sports incentive funds authorized under the Tourist Development Plan and shall submit recommendations to the Board for final determination on funding requests. The Sports Incentive Committee is authorized to consider applications for Sports Incentive Funds; to rank applications; and to make written funding recommendations to the Board based on applicable Florida law and guidelines established by the Board pursuant to ordinance, resolution or applicable provisions of tourism promotion agreements with Visit Orlando.
