About Advisory BoardsAdvisory boards, commissions, and authorities to which the Board of County Commissioners makes appointments are an integral part of the governmental process in Orange County and Central Florida. Appointed Board Member ResourcesFlorida has had an open government for more than 100 years. The public has the right of access to government meetings and records. As an appointed Board member, we want you to understand key aspects of the public records and sunshine laws before your first meeting. Please take a few minutes to view the Public Records and Orange County Communications training video within 30 days of your appointment. After completing your training, please sign and return the Training Acknowledgment Form to your Orange County Staff Liaison. We appreciate your service! Members of these boards are appointed based on their background and interest in a particular field and are expected to attend all advisory board meetings. Those who miss three consecutive meetings or twenty-five percent of the regularly scheduled meetings in a calendar year shall be considered to have resigned. Attendance reports are sent to the Membership and Mission Review Board on a quarterly basis for review. NOTE: Financial disclosure is required following appointment, not at the time of application.
