General Functions |
|
This key position performs semi-skilled electrical maintenance duties involving troubleshooting, repairing, modifying, and replacing damaged or malfunctioning electrical lines, systems, fixtures, controls and equipment in a major industrial plant environment or a water and water reclamation field with multiple critical processes. May serve as a team lead to assigned staff, assisting and guiding them in becoming familiar with equipment, tools, work procedures, and ensuring adherence to safety procedures/protocols.
Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of a designated supervisor. Performance is reviewed through inspection, reports, meetings and results achieved. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Installs, troubleshoots and repairs low and medium voltage systems up to 4,160 volts with limited supervision while ensuring safety of the work location.
- Performs electrical preventative maintenance on motors in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, which may require the removal of hot oils, greases and other liquids. Refills or replaces all items to maintain the integrity of the electric motors and the related equipment.
- Calibrates and maintains controls and process instruments and other instruments using a 4-20ma control signal.
- Maintains arc flash compliance following safety protocols in a live environment.
- Performs troubleshooting and maintenance for all levels of infrastructure in water/water reclamation plants and lift station operation. Works with mechanical and electrical equipment such as Variable Frequency Drives (VFDs), fuses, breakers and contactors.
- Troubleshoots control systems equipped with Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC) using ladder logic diagrams and electrical schematics. Uses technical manuals and prints to isolate and repair control systems.
- Interprets and understands Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA) / PLC logic which involves reading and understanding data trends used in troubleshooting equipment.
- Utilizes a work order management system to capture and record electrical failures, views historical data, report time and resources expended to complete work orders.
- Assists other staff with low voltage wiring while installing lights, switches and other low voltage equipment required for the maintenance of a safe working area or restoration of communications systems.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
State certified or State registered with Orange County as a Journeyman Electrician, or six (6) years of technical electrical work experience in a commercial or industrial setting. Six (6) years of training and graduation from a vocational school or program may be substituted for six (6) years of experience. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. |
