SENIOR FAMILY SERVICES WORKER

General Functions
   Performs professional and administrative social work involving complicated and difficult cases. Coordinates and assess the quality of Head Start services for children and families. Complies with the Head Start Performance Standards, the Head Start Act and other applicable regulations. Builds partnerships with families to assist them in identifying their own goals, strengths, needed services and support systems and in developing strategies and timetables for achieving their own goals.

Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of the Sr. Program Manager. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Coordinates eligibility, recruitment, selection, enrollment and attendance of children and families.
  • Consults and coordinates services with Head Start staff to provide referrals to community agencies as needed.
  • Builds community partnerships to provide outreach services to ensure the needs of the families are being met.
  • Conducts individual observations of children and conferences with parent to discuss observation results of any mental health/special needs or concerns.
  • Facilitates the transition of children with social, emotional, behavioral, or special need issues into Head Start from other agencies.
  • Utilizes data collection and data entry software to maintain accurate files, prepares reports and correspondence on assigned cases and maintains related health, education and family services records in accordance with policies and procedures.
  • Provides technical assistance to education staff serving children with social, emotional, behavior, and special needs issues.
  • Monitors service areas within the division to ensure compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Collects and analyzes demographic needs, assessment data points, surveys and researches to ensure efficiency of operations and effectiveness of programs.
  • Inspects all facilities and equipment to identify American with Disabilities Act (ADA) compliance and safety risks.
  • Monitors maintenance of program records to ensure contractual and legal requirements are met and professional standards are maintained.
  • Leads the division in the development and implementation of internal policies for compliance with local, state and federal regulations.
  • Coordinates with internal and external programs regarding quality assurance and training activities.
  • Performs research and prepares action plans. Performs field evaluations and follow-up reviews.
  • Facilitates group and/or team meetings with staff and serves on advisory councils and boards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor degree from an accredited Institution in Social Work (BSW); or a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution and three years of experience in social services.

May be required to possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License and may be required to provide own vehicle for job related duties.
