SENIOR EVENT SETUP WORKER

General Functions
  

The position is responsible for planning, scheduling and supervising skilled setup work to support conventions, tradeshows and other events at Orange County Convention Center. The role requires interacting with event managers, vendors and convention center staff to ensure the highest level of efficiency and customer satisfaction pertaining to Event Setup.

Work is performed with limited supervision under the Event Manager or other designated supervisor and is evaluated for efficiency and level of customer satisfaction achieved.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Performs set up and tear down configurations pertaining to exhibit hall and meeting room requirements under tight deadlines to meet client specifications and life safety codes.
  • Supervises and assigns tasks to Event Setup Workers relating to the setup, tear down, and cleaning of meeting rooms, exhibit halls and public space for events. This consists of following basic to very complex setup designs. 
  • Supervises the operation of movable track wall partitions and assists in installing and dismantling complex setup to meet client specifications and safety requirements.
  • Operates a variety of equipment including box truck, forklift, and industrial power jack/chair mover.
  • Communicates changes to workers in a timely and positive manner.
  • Navigates and interprets information from EBMS (Event Business Management Software), including reviewing the setup and refresh lists, scheduled events, downloading and updating service orders.
  • Verifies that all completed work meets the event requirements and is in compliance with life safety codes and building policies.
  • Notifies the appropriate individuals of any building and equipment damage.
  • Performs training as requested.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Graduation from high school or equivalent and two (2) years of experience working in a convention center, convention hotel, arena, or similar facility performing setup, tear down, and cleaning of meeting rooms and exhibit halls.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

Ability to understand and follow written and oral instructions in English, to include complex and detailed instructions.

Ability to convey information in a clear and accurate manner.

 
Preferences
  

Equipment Skills:

Operation of a forklift, pallet jack, box truck, two-way radio, trackwall panel system, electric powered cart and car.

Use of Windows and Microsoft Office for obtaining e-mail and other information.
