EVENT SETUP WORKER

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

General Functions
   This position is responsible for providing conference and tradeshow support to OCCC clients. The position is responsible for performing set-up, tear down, and cleaning of meeting rooms and exhibit halls for the events at the Convention Center.

Work is performed with limited supervision under the Supervisor of Event Set-Up and is evaluated for efficiency and level of customer satisfaction achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Performs a variety of set-up and tear down requirements in exhibit hall and meeting rooms and works under tight deadlines of OCCC clients. This position involves extensive amounts of lifting and placement of stacking chairs and folding tables, production stages, and the pushing and pulling of equipment.
  • Accurately interprets and carries out detailed specifications in written and diagram form.
  • Performs changes as requested by show management regarding event set-ups in meeting rooms and exhibit halls.
  • Replaces linen and provides water service and trash removal as a part of Refresh Meeting Rooms functions.
  • Verifies "show readiness" of all room sets for completeness, accuracy, cleanliness, and safety.
  • Operates movable track wall partitions to re-arrange exhibit hall and meeting room configuration to accommodate client set-up requirements.
  • Installs and dismantles complex performance staging and risers to meet client specifications and safety requirements.
  • Interacts in a positive and responsive manner with show management, clients, attendees of events, seminar speakers, and the general public.
  • Operates a variety of equipment including box truck, forklift, and industrial power jack/chair mover.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Valid Florida Driver's License.

Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Able to work irregular hours as scheduled such as on weekends, holidays, and evenings.
 
Preferences
   One year of experience working in a convention center, hotel, arena, or similar facility where the applicant performed set-up and tear downs of events.

Use of Windows and Microsoft Office for obtaining e-mail and other information.

Equipment Skills:
Operation of a forklift, powered pallet runner, two-way radio, trackwall panel system, and electric powered cart and car.
