ASSISTANT TECHNICAL OPERATIONS SUPV

General Functions
   The Assistant Technical Operations Supervisor position is responsible for the daily operations of one operational section of the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) and provides support to the OCCC events and/or the facility.

Some independence is exercised in the work methods and procedures. Work is performed under the general direction of the section supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and achievement of desired results.

Representative Duties /Assignments
   Duties may vary based on assignment.

  • Assigns and delegates job duties/work orders to section staff and monitors to ensure completion.
  • Provides training to staff regarding section services. Tracks manpower usage and prepares payroll timesheets.
  • Assists with the development, implement and monitors staff compliance of section's standard operating procedures.
  • Assists supervisor with section operation. Assists in preparation of the section budget.
  • Develops and manages employee performance plans and performance evaluations.
  • Maintains inventory of equipment for the section. Reviews, recommends and monitors inventory control procedures.
  • Recommends purchases for section requirements and acquires pricing information.
  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
Specific Duties Based on Assignment

Assistant Event Utilities Supervisor
  • Conducts and attends meetings with Director, managers, supervisor, staff and clients in the absence of section supervisor.
  • Interfaces with sub-contractors, vendors and clients to determine equipment needs.
  • Assists with implementing event requirements for clients and exhibitors by maintaining staff schedules for timely installations.
  • Assists in leading efforts to market services. Assists with preparing and organizing show activity information for technical staff.
  • Assists with coordinating billings for labor and equipment rentals.
Assistant Technical Operations Supervisor
  • Responsible for the operation of the Linda Chapin Theater.
  • Assists with maintaining staff schedules in order to meet client requirements.
  • Assists in preparing and organizing show activity information for technical staff.
  • Assists with coordinating billings for labor and equipment rentals.
Assistant Facility Operations Supervisor
  • Assists section supervisor managing overall administrative functions including but not limited to correspondence, complaints, personnel matters and staff assignments .
  • Supports, implements and monitors the preventive and corrective maintenance program
  • Serves as a liaison between management of the Orange County Convention Center, events team and technical staff.
  • Interfaces with sub-contractors, vendors and clients (both internal and external) to determine equipment needs, operational priorities related to show activity and required staffing needs.
  • Interfaces with section supervisor on issues related to facility maintenance, and assists with identifying and development of contracts for required outside services.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Associate's Degree from an accredited institution in Engineering, Construction, Business Administration or other closely related field and five years experience in convention center or arena environment, hospitality industry, facility or event operations (based on area of responsibility), to include two years experience in a lead capacity; or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

Based on area of assignment:

State certified or State registered with Orange County as a Journeyman Electrician.

Possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver's License.
 
Preferences
   Based on area of assignment:

Experience in recordkeeping, contract development and oversight.
Working knowledge of Orange County Purchasing practices.
Working knowledge of KRONOS, Maximo and Advantage systems.
