EVENT AND EXHIBIT SERVICES MANAGER

General Functions
   Provides leadership and supervision to Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) Event Management and Exhibitor Services staff and represents the Center in client related activities to ensure events are developed and implemented successfully. This position requires extensive public and professional contact with OCCC clients, industry suppliers, employees and management and works cooperatively with divisions within the OCCC and external organizations to accomplish the mission of the Sales, Marketing and Event Management Division.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the Manager, Sales, Marketing and Event Management. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Monitors Event Management and Exhibitor Services activities and provides coaching and problem solving.
  • Assists in strategic planning, budget preparation and in developing policies and procedures for the section.
  • Serves as a liaison with other departments, divisions, outside agencies, clients, exhibitors, vendors and service contractors that work in the building. Partners with Orange County Fire Rescue on event related questions and concerns.
  • Increases customer satisfaction by building client's knowledge of the vast service options available at the OCCC.
  • Involved in establishing options and services available to clients.
  • Works closely with Capital Planning and Operations Divisions to plan dates for maintenance, capital improvement projects (CIP's) and expansion work to minimize impact on events.
  • Maintains relationships with industry partners making policy and procedural recommendations on an on-going basis.
  • Participates in operational, supervisory, sales & event management and contract committee meetings. Facilitates joint meetings with service providers.
  • Participates in industry tradeshows, site visits, pre-convention meetings and promotional events as an integral member of the event team. Communicates with clients, in advance and on-site, to ensure anticipated service levels are being met.
  • Increases customer satisfaction by building staff communication and technical skills.
  • Cross-trains Account Executives and Event Coordinators..
  • Develops programs designed to maximize communication between the event manager, client and OCCC divisions.
  • Completes special projects as assigned.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Hospitality, Business and Public Relations or closely related field and five years supervisory experience in convention, exhibit or trade-show services and/or operations.
