SR. CONSOLE OPERATOR

General Functions
   This position is responsible to provide and maintain internal/external security for the Orange County Convention Center by centrally monitoring all fire detection and prevention systems and alarms throughout the Convention Center. Responsibilities include monitoring remote building access control systems, fire detection/protection systems, emergency smoke ventilation systems and escalator/elevator equipment.

Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of the Security Supervisor or the Assistant Security Supervisor. Performance is reviewed through conferences, reports and results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
   The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
  • Supervises daily operations of Console Operators on assigned shift. Monitors and ensures service orders are processed and completed.
  • Operates security equipment by monitoring surveillance camera systems, electronic access control systems. Surveys the area for potential security risks and notifies appropriate personnel. Updates logs and provides reports as need.
  • Monitor central station for all fire detection and prevention systems throughout the facility including control systems, emergency and smoke ventilation systems, escalators and elevator equipment.
  • Prioritizes and processes incoming emergency and non-emergency calls for assistance via telephone console. Logs into Computer Dispatch (CAD) terminal.
  • Answers assigned radio channels and coordinates all emergency requests, dispatching prioritized calls for service.
  • Performs control room duties to include: monitors and operates fire/security alarm computer console, routine and emergency page system, and radio system. Maintains after hours telephone message log, remote control closed-circuit television (CCTV) system and other records as required.
  • Answers and prioritize assigned radio channels and coordinate requests and dispatch of calls. Including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) terminal and entering all data in a timely manner.
  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (COH) standards.
  • Performs other related duties as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Graduation from high school or equivalent and three years of experience in a multi-task environment communicating directly with the general public using a radio or telephone and one year of supervisory experience.

Maybe required to possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver License.

Possession of a Florida Public Safety Telecommunicator Certification within 18 months of hire.
 
Preferences
  
  • Experience in a Central Alarm Monitoring Station
  • Experience with Lenel OnGuard and JCI PegaSys access control systems.
  • Experience with Avigilon VMS or other VMS
