General Functions |
|
This key position performs security and team leader duties for the Orange County Convention Center. This responsible security/safety position involves the protection of life, property, and the control and monitoring of vehicular and pedestrian traffic on Convention Center roadways, freight docks, service roads, and temporary staging areas.
Work is performed with independence under the supervision of the Assistant Security Supervisor and is reviewed through meetings, reports, and results achieved. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Delegates and monitors work assignments to squad.
- Carries out established security and life safety procedures and follows instructions from supervisory staff.
- Stays current on departmental policies and procedures; conducts squad briefings as needed.
- Meets with supervisory staff to remain informed of operational changes.
- Provides training to staff regarding section services.
- Reviews incident reports for accuracy and thoroughness; ensures timely submission.
- Inspects and patrols interior and exterior of facility and responds to emergencies.
- Monitors traffic, enforces regulations, and coordinates dock activities.
- Places traffic control devices and assists with traffic management.
- Assists with freight operations and ensures compliance with dock policies.
- Operates control room systems, including alarms, paging, radio, and control closed-circuit television (CCTV). Maintains after hours phone logs and other records.
- Interacts positively with clients, show management, attendees, and the public.
- Exercises crowd control and safety procedures in accordance with guidelines.
- Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
High school diploma or equivalent and three (3) years of experience in security, traffic management, or law enforcement in a corporate or public environment. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.
Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License. |

Must be able to respond to written and oral instructions. |
