General Functions
  

Provides leadership and monitors the staff of the Sales Divisions they develop business opportunities for the Convention Center. Represent the Convention Center in client related activities to ensure events are developed and implemented successfully. Work cooperatively with other divisions within the Center and external organizations.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Leads the Sales Division in the development and implementation of all plans and programs to support the mission statement, goals and objectives of the Convention Center. This includes new business initiatives, promotional campaigns and cooperative partnerships with the on-site service partners and gold key partners
  • Responsible for development and monitoring of the Division budget. Reviews and monitors on a monthly basis, ensuring compliance, reporting variances and taking actions as needed
  • Responsible for personnel matters including hiring, training, development, performance appraisals and related administrative activities.
  • Work closely with the Visit Orlando sales team to develop and implement sales strategies that enhance the Destinations exposure and increase Convention Business for the community.
  • Works closely with the Deputy Director in developing the vision and long term business strategy for the Sales Division. Works with Deputy Director and Communications Section Manager to develop marketing plan which reflects industry trends and national market conditions.
  • Works in concert with the Marketing and Communications Department on marketing initiatives to reach our customers.
  • Provides advice, counsel and support as needed and ensures all team members have a clear understanding of sales goals and objectives, marketing plan, venue branding, and Center mission.
  • Works closely with direct reports to manage and lead the departmental teams efforts in each functional area. Conducts regular meetings with them and schedules regular departmental meetings.
  • Establishes and maintains on-going effective communications with clients, industry partners, community leaders and important stakeholders. Serves on committees and boards as strategically defined by the Deputy Director. Attends and participates in various industry events, trades shows, marketing and sales missions,
  • Ensures that the sales team is focused on selling to future groups at all times and that definite booked groups are appropriately turned over to convention services, allowing future sales to be made
  • Analyze data and prepare reports to evaluate monitor and track performance of targeted goals and percentage of facility usage.
  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Bachelors degree in Public or Business Administration, Advertising, Marketing, Finance, or a related field and five years of supervisory experience in sales and/or marketing in exhibit or trade show services, a convention hotel or exhibition facility.
