OPERATIONS TECHNICIAN

General Functions
  

An employee assigned to this classification is responsible for performing skilled technical work in two or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, general building maintenance, locksmith, lighting, audio, telecommunications, or other electrical systems. Work is performed with some independence under the limited supervision of the supervisor or designee.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Performs the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of electrical systems, equipment and fixtures.
  • Provides expertise for wiring HVAC systems, repairing and maintaining motors, pumps, generators, switchgears and replacing light fixtures and ballasts.
  • Provides multi-trade technical maintenance support for building systems; i.e. HVAC, plumbing, etc.
  • Performs preventative maintenance on electrical equipment and systems to ensure safe, efficient and effective operations.
  • Performs installation, alteration, troubleshooting, maintenance and repair of hard key access and master keying systems.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Graduation from high school or equivalent and four (4) years of experience in to be specified for area of assignment, or an equivalent combination of Trade School, license, certifications and three (3) years of experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire. 

Based on area of assignment:

May be required to possess an Orange County license as a Journeyman Electrician or Plumber.

May be required to meet eligibility requirements for membership in the Associated Locksmiths of America within one year of employment.

Some areas of assignment require successful completion of an Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) certification program as a Universal technician prior to date‑of‑hire.

May be required to perform mandatory Emergency Standby Duty.
