General Functions
   Responsible for assisting the Executive Director, Convention Center in the operation and management of the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) facilities. Provides direction to the Sales and Event Operations division, which are responsible for booking the convention center, service delivery, client interaction, promotions and communications; as well as the Facility Operations and Capital Planning Division which are responsible for maintaining the facility; and the Fiscal & Operations Support Division which is responsible for budgeting, finance, payroll, contract administration human resources and risk management.

Work is performed with independence under the general direction of the Executive Director, Convention Center. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and achievement of desired results.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Provides day-to-day management of the operational functions of the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC) and assists and acts on behalf of the Executive Director as required.
  • Supervises and directs the overall coordination of tasks related to the operation and function of the OCCC complex.
  • Provides leadership in the implementation of the OCCC core business practices.
  • Ensures day-to-day management of the facility is conducted in an efficient, effective and customer service oriented manner.
  • Makes recommendations pertaining to policy changes and interprets policies for day-to-day operational guidelines.
  • Reviews and recommends direct reports operating budgets consistent with Orange County and department objectives.
  • Conducts meetings, briefings and informational sessions with clients and outside organizations regarding the Convention Center.
  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Business or Public Administration or a closely related field and four years of progressively responsible management or supervisory experience in the hospitality industry.
 
Preferences
   Knowledge of national or international trade shows, associations, or conventions.

Experience in managing large civic or convention center facility or equivalent managerial experience.
