TRANSPORTATION SUPERVISOR

General Functions
  

This key position provides administrative oversight of transportation planning and traffic operations for the Orange County Convention Center. Engages with clients, partners, and stakeholders to coordinate on regional strategic initiatives related to transportation and mobility development.

Work is performed with considerable independence and the exercise of independent judgment under the general supervision of the Security & Transportation Administrator or other designated supervisor.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties; it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Provides administrative oversight of all transportation planning and traffic operations in and around the Orange County Convention Center (OCCC), including supervision of transportation personnel and efficient management of event traffic and other ground transportation modes.
  • Leads staff in coordinating multi-level transportation planning, operations, and regional traffic management with agency partners.
  • Prepares and manages annual operating budget for the OCCC Transportation Section, tracks expenditures, ensures fiscal responsibility and oversees assigned vendor contracts and relations.
  • Develops section policies and procedures and participates in the Division's policy review board.
  • Coordinates current and future transportation planning initiatives with various internal divisions and county departments, external public agencies (e.g. FDOT, MetroPlan Orlando, LYNX, etc.), and private sector stakeholders (e.g. Universal Studios, I-Drive Business Partners, etc.)
  • Monitors and stays abreast of regional transportation projects and relevant work programs (e.g. FDOT 5-Year Work Program, MetroPlan Orlando Transportation Improvement Program, etc.)
  • Develops long-range planning and strategy for the section's mission in alignment with division management and department leadership.
  • Strategizes and develops new operating concepts, feasibility studies, and pilot programs for innovative transportation solutions at the OCCC.
  • Prepares presentations and reports for senior management and clients regarding transportation plans, operations, and other key strategic initiatives.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution and four (4) years of experience in transportation planning, traffic or public transportation or closely related field. In lieu of the degree requirements, additional relevant experience may be substituted on a year-for-year basis.

 
Preferences
  

A degree in transportation engineering, civil engineering, public administration, business administration or closely related field.

FDOT Advanced Maintenance of Traffic Certification or similar.

Previous experience developing traffic management plans for large public events or major venues.

Ability to effectively apply integrated corridor management principles and practices in events-based or non-cyclical situations.

Knowledge of Federal Transit Administration Competitive Grants and convention center operations.

Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
