SENIOR EVENT COORDINATOR

General Functions
   Responsible for the coordination of the most complex, technically demanding events within the Orange County Convention Center. General supervision is received from the Supervisor of Event Coordination and is reviewed through activity reports, conferences and results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Coordinates assigned events within the Orange County Convention Center: to include event outlines, equipment coordination, monitoring events in progress, customer service and relations, and contractual matters.
  • Enforces written policies and procedures of the Center and exercises independent judgment in all activities with clients, event patrons and the general public.
  • Responsible for providing technical guidance to Event Coordinators.
  • Performs as liaison between users of the Orange County Convention Center and the Center's staff.
  • Attends planning meetings with clients and their vendors. Conducts pre-convention meetings with Center, divisions, clients and their vendors.
  • Collects and manages information for the purpose of producing an event.
  • Produces an event document, including schedules, department instructions and diagrams, utilizing industry specific software.
  • Reviews lessee’s contract to ensure dates, times, facilities, and equipment provided are correct and contractual provisions have been fulfilled.
  • Interfaces and assists other divisions with special projects that impact the event coordination section.
  • Manages events in progress to ensure compliance with Center policy and public safety codes.
  • Meets the Center of Hospitality (CoH) standards.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Requires a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Public Administration, Recreation or Hospitality Management and three years experience in convention services, two of which must have been in event coordination; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training or experience.

Must have the ability to work a flexible schedule including evenings, weekends and holidays.
 
Preferences
   Experience with Microsoft Office products and event management software.
