General Functions
   Plans, directs, manages and oversees the activities and operations of the Fleet Management Division which is responsible for vehicle and equipment maintenance, support services and technical services.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Responsible for various personnel matters including hiring, discipline, training and development, performance appraisals and other related activities.
  • Assumes full management responsibility for all Division maintenance services and activities.
  • Directs the development and implementation of Division goals, objectives and priorities.
  • Oversees the development of policies, procedures, and plans related to Division services and operations.
  • Plans, directs and coordinates, through subordinate level management staff, the Division's activities/ responsibilities.
  • Establish, within County guidance, appropriate service and staffing levels; monitor and evaluate the efficiency and effectiveness of methods and procedures; allocate resources accordingly.
  • Represents the Division to other County Divisions and Departments, elected officials and outside agencies.
  • Oversees and participates in the development and administration of the Division's budget. Approves the forecast of funds needed for staffing, equipment, material and supplies.
  • Responds to and resolve difficult and sensitive citizen inquires and complaints.
  • Consensus builder with other managers as well as with all employees.
  • Provides staff assistance and responses to upper level management as requested.
  • Keeps current with and quickly implements “best practices" within the career field.
  • Performs other duties of a comparable level as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Requires a Bachelors degree from an accredited college or university in Transportation Management, Business Administration, Public Administration, Automotive Engineering or a related field and five years of directly related fleet management administrative experience to include three years of supervisory experience.
 
Preferences
   Masters degree from an accredited college or university in Public Administration, Business Administration, Transportation Management, or another related field.
