ELECTRICAL ENGINEER

General Functions
   This is highly advanced professional, administrative and supervisory engineering work. An employee in this classification is responsible for directing specific projects and programs and performing other comparable field and/or office engineering work. The position provides technical supervision for one or more engineering functions of a specialized nature.

Work is performs with considerable independence under the general supervision of the designated supervisor.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Provides technical guidance for Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCDA) and automations.
  • Prepares and signs/seals electrical designs for the Engineering Division's In-house Design Teams as well as other electrical designs for the Department as needed.
  • Reviews and inspects electrical work.
  • Coordinates activities of vendors and electrical subcontractors.
  • Prepares annual Capital Improvement Plan and Office of Management & budgets and assists in meeting them.
  • Reviews and comments on electrical schematics and specifications prepared by others.
  • Trouble-shoots electrical problems for treatment facilities and pump stations.
  • Responsible for the electrical CIP Master Specifications and Orange County Utilities Standards and Construction Specifications for electrical work specifications and standard drawings for pump stations (electrical control panels, flow and pressure recording, generators, motor control centers, and SCADA panels).
  • Performs related duties as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's Degree from an accredited institution in Electrical Engineering. Eight years engineering and supervisory experience in project management, budgeting, electrical design, SCADA systems and communications, and working in an industrial environment.

Licensed in a state of the United States as a Professional Engineer. Must be licensed in the state of Florida as a Professional Engineer within one year of hire.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's license.
 
Preferences
   Experience with wastewater operations and processes; instrumentation and controls; power surge protection; and familiarity with Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, HMI SCADA, and Maximo software.

Experience in radio communications systems, PLC programming, visual basic programming, telephone systems, networking, fiber optic communications, and electrical diagrams.
