General Functions |
|
This key position is an entry level role that performs a variety of routine engineering assignments, including the least technical surveying, inspection and drafting duties.
Work is performed under the direct supervision of a designated supervisor or manager. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports, and results achieved. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties; it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Assists survey parties as rodman and chainman, including clearing brush, marking stakes, and basic sketching.
- Prepares and tests specimens, operates testing equipment, and assists with field inspections.
- Sets, reads, and resets traffic counting machines; classifies traffic and gathers relevant data.
- Computes elevations, plots cross sections and profiles, and calculates earthwork quantities.
- Prepares simple engineering drawings and plots, including mechanical and structural layouts.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
High school diploma or equivalent. An equivalent combination of relevant education or experience may be substituted.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License. |

Preferences |
|
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions.
Knowledge of engineering instruments, equipment, and practices.
Knowledge of mathematics and engineering drawings.
Knowledge of the principles, practices, and techniques of engineering drafting and drafting instruments. |
