LIMS ANALYST

General Functions
   This is a professional, technical, and administrative position in the operation and maintenance of the Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) through tasks such as planning, installing, developing and coordinating.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
   Analyzes laboratory information needs and develop plans for implementing and operating LIMS database. Develops policies and procedures to ensure database backup, recovery and security. Responsible for and maintains environmental database, archives, and the retrieval of information via the Wide Area Network (STORET). Archives data electronically to department server and federal data repository.

Provides training to staff on updates, revisions, and modifications of the system. Researches and recommends LIMS software and hardware. Troubleshoots, tests, evaluates, monitors, analyzes and performs corrective steps to resolve any LIMS operational problem. Coordinates with staff to resolve LAN malfunctions.

Maintains facility compliance through certification for Federal and State quality assurance program activities in the field and laboratory. Writes formal reports and generates financial reports both manually and through LIMS.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Physics, Math, Electrical Engineering or closely related field and four year of experience in LAN computing or computer information management systems; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training or experience.
 
Preferences
   Experience in environmental laboratory operation, including extensive use of LIMS and strong quality assurance background.
