HOUSING DEVELOPMENT ASSISTANT

General Functions
   Performs responsible administrative work in developing and implementing a variety of Federal, State and Local Affordable Housing Programs.

This is a professional position responsible for planning, program development, and implementation of affordable housing programs such as, but not limited to the State Housing Initiative Program, HOPE III Program, and the HOME Program. An employee assigned to this classification will provide technical assistance to County divisions, non-profit organizations, and will assist with evaluation and analysis of public and private initiatives. This position will also provide research and technical assistance to the County’s Affordable Housing Advisory Board.

Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Housing Development Coordinator.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Provides significant staff support in implementation of the County’s Impact Fee Discount Program.
  • Processes applications for affordable housing certifications.
  • Performs research on regulatory reform activities affecting affordable housing development.
  • Assists in evaluation of affordable housing funding proposals.
  • Provides significant staff support and technical assistance by providing information concerning Federal, State and Local Housing Programs.
  • Assists in preparing various Federal and State grant applications for housing programs.
  • Prepares developers’ agreements for project administration.
  • Write reports, letters and memorandum.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance, Public Administration, Urban Planning or a closely related field and one year of housing related experience or equivalent combination of relevant education, training or experience.
