COMMUNICATIONS ANALYST

General Functions
  

This position is responsible for countywide internal and external communication efforts. This position performs professional level work cross functionally with other departments and is responsible for social media and developing print and web-based communications materials.

Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and achievement of desired results.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Develop strategic communication campaigns to share new information, feature current programs and upcoming events, highlight employee accomplishments and provides insights about changes that impact Orange County citizens and/or employees using a variety of channels.
  • Develop, manages and refreshes Human Resources content on the Orange County website, Human Resources and employee information on the intranet webpage, and on other employee information sharing sources.
  • Partner with Human Resources management, the Communications Division and/or Department/Division Communications Liaisons to design, write, proofread, edit, translate, and distribute targeted electronic and/or print communications regarding Human Resources programs and services.
  • Develop and implement the appropriate branding of Human Resources' internal and external communications including key initiatives and publications.
  • Research, write, edit, and proofread content for scripts, coordinate and maintain production schedule with Orange TV, host/co-host web episode broadcasts; promote programs to Orange County employees.
  • Coordinates special events for employees such as Take Our Sons and Daughters to Work Day.
  • Collaborate with Orange County ESF-14 representatives to provide support for social media communications with citizens and employees during emergency situations.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Journalism, Communications, Public Relations, Marketing or closely related field and 2 years of experience in communications, media relations, creative writing and editing or an equivalent combination of relevant education and experience.

 
Preferences
  

Experience in developing and administering strategic communications programs which are measured against strong objectives that further the mission of the organization.

Experience in the use of web-based management systems and strong proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.

Excellent oral, written, and presentation communication skills as well as planning and project management skills.
