PROFESSIONAL STANDARDS INVESTIGATOR

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   The Professional Standards Investigator conducts confidential, administrative investigations of alleged or suspected violation of state, federal or local laws and ordinances, or misconduct of Orange County employees relative to established County and departmental policies and procedures.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Misconduct Investigation Supervisor. Work is reviewed through oral and written reports and for compliance with established rules, regulations and policies.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Investigative work performed both in the office and in the field to ensure the confidentiality of administrative inquiries and internal investigations.
  • Meets and interviews complainants, witnesses and employees to gather evidence and facts related to alleged violations.
  • Interacts with inmates in conducting fact-finding investigations as required.
  • Validates information obtained to establish accuracy of facts and information.
  • Analyzes charges or complaints to identify issues involved.
  • Conducts investigations concerning complaints, allegations of misconduct or unethical conduct as assigned.
  • Presents written findings in clear, concise and impartial reports to supervisor.
  • Testify in court or participate in administrative proceedings concerning findings of investigations, as required.
  • Performs other duties as assigned
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's degree and two (2) years of interviewing and investigative experience or Six (6) years of equivalent experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License and provide own transportation to be utilized daily in the performance of duties.
