CORRECTIONS TRAINING ADMINISTRATOR

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   This position manages, supervises and oversees the Corrections Department Training and Staff Development Unit. This position provides leadership in the development and delivery of department-wide training and development programs specific to the Corrections' industry.

Work requires independent judgment and is performed under the general supervision of the Department Director or individual that leads the Training function.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Collaborates with Correctional Management Team to review initiatives, address training needs, and develop work plans, assignments and group plans.
  • Plans evaluation of training activities, outcomes, and overall effectiveness.
  • Researches and recommends training programs and external resources such as public agencies, educational institutions and private consultants.
  • Coordinates the research, development and implementation of curriculum including audio-visual, computer assisted and written training materials and evaluates their effectiveness.
  • Facilitates training workshops to enhance professional development of staff.
  • Ensures staff compliance with State certification training requirements.
  • Collaborates with Policy and Accreditation Coordinator to ensure that all accreditation standards related training are met.
  • Performs supervisory functions such as hiring recommendations, staff scheduling and work assignments, training and performance evaluations for training staff.
  • Prepares and administers the training unit budget.
  • Performs related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Communications, Criminal Justice, Education, Psychology, Business Administration, Public Administration, or a related field; five (5) years of professional level experience in developing and implementing comprehensive staff and/or client training and development programs; two (2) years of the five must be supervisory experience.
 
Preferences
   Master's Degree from an accredited institution
Past or Current Certification in a Correctional environment
Training & Development experience in a Correctional environment
