SENIOR COMMUNITY CORRECTIONS OFFICER

General Functions
  

This is a professional Corrections position that requires the following skills: good communication, conflict management and problem-solving, time management, initiative and accountability, professionalism, integrity and good judgment. The Senior Community Corrections Officer assists the Supervisor or designee with special projects, and coordinating or facilitating training activities for other staff. May also perform administrative support functions such as quality assurance reviews, policy development and review, compliance audits, and training.

Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of the assigned Supervisor and may function as a point of contact in the absence of the supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved.

Community Corrections

  • Contact with offenders.
  • Conducts interview sessions with specific emphasis on goal oriented and socially accepted behavior.
  • Monitors, investigates, and/or enforces offender adherence to program requirements.
  • Conducts drug testing on offenders.
  • Attends and participates in court hearings.
  • Analyzes documentation and makes recommendation regarding sentencing.
  • Provides referral information (e.g. vocational, educational and social services).
  • Facilitates training of other staff as directed by the Unit Supervisor.
  • Prepares written documentation, correspondence or case documentation.
  • Supervises a high risk and/or specialized caseload.
  • Provides quality assurance audits and monitor compliance with policies, procedures and accreditation standards.
  • Assists in the development and delivery of targeted programing for offenders/inmates.
  • Communicates with criminal justice partners.
  • Interview and assist offenders with re-entry and resources.
  • Facilitate cognitive skills classes to offenders.
  • Coordinates monthly and annual revisions of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for each unit and assists in the development of new division policies.
  • Performs quality assurance and compliance reviews to ensure operational efficiency, to include written reports documenting the outcome of reviews and recommendations.
  • Participates in policy review and development
  • Completes special projects at the direction of the division Assistant Manager/Manager or designee.
  • Provides regular feedback to supervisory staff of outcomes from quality assurance reviews.
  • Monitors and logs all CCD grievances.
  • Maintains, updates and verifies qualifications of the CCD referral list.
  • Facilitates training of other staff as directed by the supervisor.
  • May perform back up duties for the unit supervisors on a limited basis.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

 Policy Operations & Review

  • Responsible for analyzing systems, auditing files and making assessments in the areas of security, fire, safety and sanitation.
  • Ensures compliance with all codes, regulations, statutes, accreditation standards, etc.
  • Reviews policies and makes recommendations as appropriate.
  • Maintains records and prepares reports relative to system analysis, lawsuits, grievances, use of force activities, etc. Retrieves files out of archives for investigations and record requests.
  • Assists with Emergency Preparedness activities.
  • Facilitates training of other staff as directed by the supervisor.
  • May function as a point of contact in the absence of the supervisor.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Inmate Administrative Services 

  • Coordinates the annual revisions of Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) for each unit and assists in the development of new division policies.
  • Provides quality assurance audits and monitor compliance with policies, procedures and accreditation standards.
  • Performs quality assurance and compliance reviews to ensure operational efficiency, to include written reports documenting the outcome of reviews and recommendations.
  • Completes special projects at the direction of the division Assistant Manager/Manager or designee.
  • Correct inmate photo errors (QA).
  • QA reviews of releases (PTR, ROR).
  • Assists with annual end of year report – (Citizens Right to Know, OPPAGA).
  • Perform QA reporting using crystal reports and auditing files to identify deficiencies, document productivity and confirm location of temporarily released inmates.
  • Provide regular feedback to supervisory staff of outcomes from quality assurance reviews.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Corrections Administration

  • Works in partnership with the Agency LASO and other agency FACs/ALT FACs
  • Act as liaison to FDLE/FBI during audit
  • Manages software for all FCIC/NCIC operators. Creates user accounts, re-set passwords, and ensure compliance requirements for CJIS Certification and Recertification for all users
  • Ensures all persons who are certified to operate a limited or full access terminal within the agency are entered in the FCIC database and that all persons who are no longer certified to operate an FCIC terminal are deleted from the FCIC database.
  • Ensures that agency terminals are placed in secure locations that prohibit unauthorized use or viewing
  • Monitor Records Dissemination and Dissemination Logs
  • Process vendor/volunteer screening requests
  • Prepare for audits and assists FDLE auditors during the agency's triennial audit to ensure the agency's compliance requirements. Inform appropriate departments within the agency when an audit has been scheduled and ensure the appropriate preparations are made.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution and two years of experience in a correctional facility, case management, public safety or prior experience as a Community Corrections Officer.

Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida Driver’s License.

Corrections Administration 

Must possess FCIC/NCIC Limited or Full Access Certification.  Must be able to obtain and maintain FCIC Agency Coordinator (FAC) training within 6 months of the FAC designation. Strong working knowledge of the Criminal Justice Information Services (CJIS) systems.
