PARKS TECHNICIAN I

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

General Functions
   This position performs work in maintaining, repairing, and installing irrigation systems throughout the Parks & Recreation Division. This position may also assist in other projects within the Operation Support Section as directed. Direction is received from the Parks Technician II or assigned supervisor.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
    Duties will vary based on assignment.
  • Performs repairs to irrigations systems including leaking and broken lines, cut and damaged wires, valves, valve boxes and tracking and locating equipment.
  • Assists with preventative maintenace inspections of irrigation systems.
  • Keeps assigned vehicle stocked with needed irrigation parts and tools and keeps trenching and digging equipment cleaned and serviced.
  • Assists in other related areas when needed including cleaning and servicing unmanned sites, boat ramps and the support facility.
  • Instructs staff in proper techniques and use of tracking/locating equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Graduation from high school or equivalent and two years of experience in grounds and building maintenance and repair.
 
Preferences
   Experience in installing, troubleshooting and performing preventative maintenance of irrigation systems.
