General Functions |
|
This key position performs entry level work in maintaining, repairing, and installing irrigation systems throughout the Parks & Recreation Division. This position may also assist in other projects within the Operation Support Section as directed.
Work is performed under the supervision of the Chemical Spray Foreman and is reviewed through meetings, conferences, reports, and results achieved. |

Representative Duties /Assignments |
|
Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.
- Performs repairs to irrigation systems including leaking and broken lines, cut and damaged wires, valves, valve boxes, and tracking and locating equipment.
- Assists with preventative maintenance inspections of irrigation systems.
- Keeps assigned vehicle stocked with needed irrigation parts and tools and keeps trenching and digging equipment cleaned and serviced.
- Assists in other related areas when needed including cleaning and servicing unmanned sites, boat ramps, and the support facility.
- Instructs staff in proper techniques and use of tracking/locating equipment.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications |
|
High school diploma or equivalent and two (2) years of experience in grounds and building maintenance and repair. An equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be substituted.
Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License. |

Preferences |
|
Experience in installing, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance of irrigation systems. |
