ASSISTANT ACTIVITIES DIRECTOR

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
  
    Assists in the planning, implementation and operation of County-wide recreational activities, staff and volunteer training, coordination with public recreation organizations, and reports and publications necessary to improve on service delivery.

    Work is performed using independent judgement under the supervision of Assistant Manager, Parks & Recreation and is evaluated for accuracy and effective execution of programs and activities.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Assists with coordinating County-wide recreational programs and activities such as athletics, youth recreation camps and special events.
  • Assists with the instruction of staff in areas relating to programming and activities. Assists in recruiting, training and supervising seasonal and part-time staff, volunteers and instructors in the area of assigned responsibilities.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of an ongoing in-service training program for all recreational staff.
  • Prepares a variety of operational reports and survey information.
  • Monitors agreements, insurances, and compensation from athletic organizations and third party instructors.
  • Assists with the development and maintenance of an ongoing in-service training program for all recreational staff to include school age child care and athletic league instructional.
  • Assists with management of Division Volunteer Program including recruitment, Background screening, training, placement and recognition of all Division volunteers and coaches.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  
    Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Recreation Management, Public Administration, Sports Administration/Management or closely related field; or an equivalent combination of related education and experience.

    Must be able to work nights and weekends.
 
Preferences
  
    Florida Recreation & Park Association certification.
