RECREATION COORDINATOR

General Functions
   Assists in the planning, implementing and operating of recreation programs and activities for all ages.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
   Responsible for coordinating recreational programs and activities such as aquatics, wellness, team sports, guest speakers and countywide special events.

Consults with individuals and groups to determine their recreation interests, needs and desires. Plans, initiates, organizes and supervises general/specific programs and services in accordance with the interests and needs of the area/community.

Assists in the promotion, organization and direction of community events in the speciality areas. Aides in the preparation of manuals, rules, announcements, bulletins and promotional materials. Checks schedule and oversees the use of facilities, equipment and supplies.

Orders supplies and equipment. Maintains records and accounts of attendance, supplies, and equipment. Directs and supervises the collection of fees, prepares daily records of receipts and deposits.

Supervises and instructs additional staff needed programs and activities. Assists in recruiting, training and supervising seasonal and part-time staff, specialists and volunteers in the area of assigned responsibilities. Develops and maintains ongoing, in service training and continuing education programs for all personnel.

Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor’s degree.
 
Preferences
   Preferred Qualifications:
Parks & Recreation - Bachelor’s degree in Recreation or closely related field.
Human Services - Bachelor’s degree in Juvenile Justice, Social Sciences or closely related field.

Experience in recreation programs and Florida Recreation and Parks Association certification.
