RECREATION COMMUNITY CENTER SUPERVISOR

General Functions
   Responsible for planning, developing, implementing and organizing of recreational activities and programs for all ages, completing monthly schedules, conducting specialized classes, preparing revenue collection and providing training for recreation leaders, parks specialists, casual labor employees, interns and volunteers at a Orange County Parks and Recreation facility. This position has supervisory responsibilities in the absence of the Site Supervisor.

Work is performed with considerable independence under the general direction of a Site Supervisor or assigned supervisor in a well thought out manner in accordance with accepted standards and procedures. Work is reviewed through reports, meetings and results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Supervises recreation community center staff in the absence of the Site Supervisor. Assists with supervising, training, coaching and evaluating staff and volunteers.
  • Responsible for monitoring operational areas such as maintenance, recreation programming and services, security and safety, fiscal operations involving revenue and purchasing.
  • Develop and conduct diversified recreational programs and services at sites that may include playgrounds, swimming areas, nature trails, concessions, shelters, campgrounds, and recreation buildings.
  • Works with a variety of contractors or vendors regarding coordination of field trips, implementing special events or programming, specialized instructors or user groups who provide services to the community center.
  • Consults with individuals and groups to determine their recreational interests and needs. May work with neighborhood advisory committees or councils.
  • Responsible for meeting performance goals for center operations.
  • Responsible for collecting, preparing and approving revenue collections and using P-card and requests for purchases.
  • Opens, closes and secures sites. Assists with parks and building maintenance. Ensures the maintenance and safety of the center. Conducts inventory and orders supplies.
  • Enforces rules and regulations for the safety and welfare of staff and participants.
  • Maintains appropriate licenses/certifications/training to operate utility vehicles, motor vehicles, tractors, landscape equipment, machinery/features and janitorial equipment specific to their assigned site.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Two years of college education from an accredited institution and two years of supervisory or team lead experience in a Parks and Recreation field; or High School graduate or equivalent and four years of experience in the Parks and Recreation field to include one year of supervisory or team lead experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license.

Must obtain CPR and First Aid Certification within six months of hire date.

Must be able to work evenings and weekends.
 
Preferences
   Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution in Parks and Recreation or closely related field.

Experience managing youth day camps and youth athletic leagues.

Professional certification in Parks and Recreation or closely related organization. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and Recreation Management software system.
