General Functions
   Responsible for initiating or providing leadership, direction, and overall management in the daily operations of Orange County Fire Rescue, and to ensure compliance with county and fire department procedures and policies.

Oversee the administration of emergency and non-emergency services provided by various divisions within the fire department.

This position is second in command for the Orange County Fire Rescue Department.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Assumes the position of Fire Chief during his absence.
  • Manages department operations for compliance with County policy through the administration of personnel policies, labor contracts, rules and regulations, and standard operating procedures.
  • Supervises Special Risk class members, which duties include on the scene fighting of fires, and other emergency activities.
  • Participates in meeting with neighboring emergency service agencies to negotiate mutual aid, joint response, and contracting fire service.
  • Responds to major incidents and assume command of the incident upon deeming such action as necessary.
  • Provides scene management for fire, hazardous material, aircraft and emergency medical or natural disasters through the supervision of senior managers within the department.
  • Oversees preparation of annual budget for the Orange County Fire and Rescue Department.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor of Science/Bachelor of Arts Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in fire science and administration, public or business administration or a public safety related career field, and ten (10) years experience to include four (4) years supervisory experience at the rank of Captain or higher.

Firefighter certified by the State of Florida Firefighters Standards Council; valid driver license for the State of Florida.
