CONVENTION CENTER TECHNICIAN PT

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

General Functions
   Performs skilled technical work specializing in one or more of the following areas: electrical, plumbing, HVAC, rigging, lighting, audio, telecommunications and other building systems and services for the convention center. Interacts on a regular basis with exhibitors and center staff to ensure the highest level of customer service.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Event Utilities:
  • Repairs, installs, maintains and dismantles temporary electrical services up to 480 volts including hard wire connections.
  • Repairs, installs, maintains and dismantles temporary plumbing services.
  • Performs troubleshooting and diagnosing difficult electrical and plumbing problems.

  • Facility Maintenance:
  • Repairs, installs, and maintains electrical services including hard wire connections.
  • Repairs, installs, and maintains plumbing services.
  • Performs troubleshooting and diagnosing difficult electrical and plumbing problems.
  • Repairs, installs, and maintains glass, aluminum, metal doors, and kitchen equipment.
  • Operates hydraulic equipment.
  • Operates computerized maintenance system.

  • HVAC Maintenance:
  • Performs technical work on heating, ventilation, air conditioning, pneumatic controls, emergency generator systems and variable frequency drives.

  • Technical Services:
  • Repairs, installs, maintains and dismantles rigging, lighting, audio and other electronic systems.
  • Performs advanced troubleshooting and diagnosing difficult technical problems.
  • Operates computer controlled high-end audio and lighting systems.

  • Performs other duties as required.

 
Minimum Qualifications
   High school graduate or equivalent. Five years of experience in one or more of the above skilled areas of responsibility or an equivalent combination of education and experience. Must be able to understand and follow written and oral instructions in English.

Equipment Skills Required
Working knowledge and/or skills regarding electrical distribution equipment, computerized lighting and audio equipment, chillers and air handlers and/or a variety of motorized high-lift equipment.

May be required to possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License, journeyman electrician's license, universal technician certification in air conditioning or rigging certification depending on the area assigned.
 
Preferences
   Previous experience working in a convention center or highly occupied facility performing related maintenance and/or installation of utilities, air conditioning, heating, ventilation, lighting/audio services, rigging or facility maintenance.
