REGULATORY COMPLIANCE SPECIALIST

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   Responsible for monitoring, investigating and enforcing state and local regulations to ensure regulatory compliance of each private ambulance company, fire department, helicopter service, and all non-emergency (paratransit) transporting agencies operating under a license within Orange County.

Work is performed under the general supervision of the assigned supervisor and is evaluated on accuracy, efficiency and achievement of desired results.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Processes and issues licenses to non-emergency agencies and Certificates of Public Convenience and Necessity for Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) agencies functioning within Orange County.
  • Conducts investigations regarding complaints, inquiries, and/or allegations affecting the agencies conformance with the established rules and regulations; interacts with the agencies, the general public and the State Emergency Medical Services (EMS) Department.
  • Monitors, develops and maintains the contract for each private ambulance company.
  • Generates reports, complies data and prepares statistical information related to regulatory sector.
  • Performs inspections of all non-emergency vehicles and issues an operating permit for each vehicle.
  • Manages records, documents and other items for the sector.
  • Coordinates with hospitals and EMS Agencies during their accreditation and re-accreditation processes.
  • Maintains records of the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA) and FL Medical License of the EMS Medical Directors, along with the DEA Controlled Substance forms.
  • Serves as Advisory Council Coordinator for the EMS Advisory Board.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Associate's degree from an accredited institution in the Social Sciences, Public Administration, Healthcare or a relevant field and two years of experience in a health related field or healthcare business environment or an equivalent combination of specified educational field and experience.
 
Preferences
   Ability to communicate with officials and staff from various agencies and the State EMS department.

Experience in conducting investigations.

General knowledge of state and local rules and regulations related to EMS.
