CLINICAL PHARMACIST

General Functions
   The Clinical Pharmacist is assigned to the Orange County Medical Clinic to provide oversight in pharmaceutical services including medication ordering, receipt, labeling, storage, dispensing, and clinical services. The Clinical Pharmacist will supervise the staff pharmacists and pharmacy technicians.

Work is performed under the direction of the Pharmacist Director. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and achievement of desired results.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Complies with all State and Federal Regulations regarding licensure and Pharmacy practice.
  • Implements and participates in Physician Directed Pharmacy Managed Clinics, collaborating with faculty to initiate and maintain pharmacy managed clinics.
  • Initiates policy and procedures for patients to be referred to the pharmacy managed clinics.
  • Works with the Pharmacy Director to ensure that inventories, security procedures, training, protocol development, record keeping, packaging, labeling, and dispensing adhere to laws and regulations of the Board of Pharmacy and Drug Enforcement Agency.
  • Reviews prescriptions to assure accuracy, to ascertain the needed ingredients, and to evaluate their suitability.
  • Consults with patients or his/her agent regarding prescriptions.
  • Consults with medical providers as necessary regarding prescriptions.
  • Maintains a perpetual inventory of controlled drugs.
  • Provides education to health care and pertinent non-health-care personnel with respect to medication use.
  • Administers performance evaluations, disciplinary actions, leave request approvals or denials, and time card review and sign-off.
  • Participates in Pharmacy, Clinic, and Health Services Division meetings as necessary.
  • Provides drug information to clinical staff upon request.
  • Directs the actions and conduct of pharmacy students completing clinical rotations for graduation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Must be a licensed and registered Pharmacist in the State of Florida by date of hire. One year of pharmacy experience.
 
Preferences
   Work experience in a hospital, clinic, or retail pharmacy.
