PHARMACY TECHNICIAN

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

General Functions
   The purpose of the pharmacy technician is to assist the pharmacist with the day-to-day activities in the pharmacy. Work is performed under the direct supervision of the Pharmacist.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
   Corrections Health Services
  • Prepares individual medication orders and medication cart stock orders for verification by pharmacist.
  • Pre-packs medications in unit dose blister cards for verification by pharmacist.
  • Prepares billing reports.
  • Performs data entry of medication orders for verification by pharmacist.
  • Prepares and updates patient profiles in the Pharmacy database.
  • Assists with ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmacy inventory and reconciliation of inventory in database.
  • Answers incoming phone calls.
  • Performs monthly inventory review for expired medications.
  • Assists Consultant Pharmacist with monthly medication room and medication cart inspections.
  • Attends meetings and staff training as directed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
Medical Clinic
  • Performs non-clinical functions relating to preparation of medication orders.
  • Assists with ordering, receiving, and stocking pharmacy inventory and reconciliation of inventory in database.
  • Assists with Patient Assistance Program enrollment and data collection.
  • Works the prescription drop-off and pick-up window.
  • Performs cashier functions including receiving patient co-payments, reconciliation of cash drawer, and delivery of daily deposits to the Cashier's office at the County Administration Building.
  • Performs monthly inventory review for expired medications.
  • Answers incoming phone calls.
  • Prepares and updates patient profiles in the Pharmacy database.
  • Attend meetings and staff training as directed.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Graduation from high school or equivalent.

Possess and maintain in good standing active Florida Board of Pharmacy - Pharmacy Technician Registration or be enrolled in an approved pharmacy technician training program and receive registration upon completion.

Must be at least 18 years of age.

Required to possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License or ability to obtain a Florida Driver's License within six months of hire date.
 
Preferences
  
  • Certified Pharmacy Technician
  • Experience and knowledge of use and dispensing of medications and treatment.
  • Knowledge of brand and generic drug names.
  • Microsoft Office software knowledge.
  • Excellent customer service skills.
