TRAFFIC SIGN INSTALLER I

General Functions
  

This key position performs entry level work in the installation, repair and maintenance of traffic signs in accordance with established regulations, policies and practices.

Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of the Foreman. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports and results achieved.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Uses hand power tools to remove or install sign posts.
  • Uses hand or power tools to remove or install traffic signs.
  • Reads plans, sketches or maps to determine where and what types of signs must be placed.
  • Maintains an inventory of standard signs and posts on truck for emergency installation.
  • Inspects traffic signs periodically in assigned district to identify those that may need to be replaced or maintained.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

High school diploma or equivalent.

Possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

 
Preferences
  

Knowledge of the county road system and familiarity with the Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices.

Experience in installing traffic signs.
