SERVICE WRITER

General Functions
   Completes and processes work orders for repair and preventive maintenance to County vehicles.

Distinguishing Characteristics of Work

This is technical work assisting in the execution of the preventive maintenance program.

An employee in a position allocated to this class is responsible for ensuring that the routine preventative maintenance of County vehicles is accomplished on scheduled intervals and that unscheduled repairs are made on a timely basis.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Prepares work orders for unscheduled maintenance on County vehicles and equipment and coordinates scheduling with Shop Foreman.
  • Makes log entries and maintains files as required.
  • Assists in the operation of the service desk.
  • Notifies divisions upon completion of maintenance.
  • Operates four-way radio and dispatches servicemen to the proper location.
  • Completes requisitions for out-of-shop specialized repair.
  • May issue tools.
  • Performs related duties as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   High school graduate or equivalent and one year experience in equipment service writing or equivalent combination of education and related experience.
