MAINTENANCE TECH

General Functions
  

This key position performs a variety of maintenance, service, and repair tasks that may involve buildings, facilities, mechanical equipment, plumbing, electrical systems, or carpentry utilized in the operations of the assigned divisions.

Work is assigned and reviewed by the District Maintenance Supervisor or other designated supervisor. Performance is evaluated through observation of work in progress and upon completion for achievement of desired results in a safe and efficient manner.

 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  

Duties may vary based on area of assignment. The following are representative duties, it is not the intent to capture all duties performed by this classification.

  • Inspects buildings and other structures to determine functional systems and detect malfunctions and needed repair making notes and recommendations using pre-established check sheets.
  • Performs minor electrical and plumbing maintenance including replacement or repair of fixtures using appropriate hand, power and specialty tools.
  • Performs minor painting, carpentry and masonry work including preparing surfaces, applying paints, hanging doors, fitting locks and handles, etc.
  • Reconfigures, installs, positions, and remounts modular offices and space to accommodate user needs and maximize office space.
  • Prepares surfaces and paints various structures and equipment to preserve wood and metal parts and maintain a safe, comfortable working environment.
  • Assists HVAC Mechanics in the maintenance and repair of heating, refrigeration and air conditioning equipment.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

High school diploma or equivalent and one (1) year of experience in skilled trades, craft, or maintenance. An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted.

May be required to possess and maintain the appropriate valid Commercial Driver’s License.

Facilities Management

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s License.

 
Preferences
  

Completion of a skilled trades vocational or technical program.
