ELECTRICIAN

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

General Functions
   Performs skilled technical and supervisory work at the journeyman level performing the installation, alteration, maintenance and repair of complex electrical systems, equipment and fixtures. Work is performed in accordance with standard practices of the electrical trade.

Work is performed under the general direction of a higher level supervisor or Master Electrician. Work is reviewed through inspection, reports, meetings and results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Wires and connects refrigeration, air conditioning and heating equipment, installs or moves electrical outlets, installs control and distribution apparatus, such as switches, relays and circuit breaker panels.
  • May be assigned duties in specialized areas such as building construction, water and wastewater plant operations, or vehicle maintenance and repair.
  • Installs, maintains, alters and repairs wiring, power appliances, light machinery and electrical circuits.
  • Installs, maintains and repairs electrical pumps, motors, generators and related moderately complex electrical and mechanical equipment.
  • Installs and repairs fluorescent, industrial and general lighting fixtures and connections.
  • Uses standard instruments such as ohmmeters, oscilloscopes and batteries to test continuity of circuits and ensure electrical compatibility and safety of components.
  • Observes functioning of installed equipment or systems to detect hazards and need for adjustments, relocation or replacement.
  • Performs other related work as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   State certified or State registered with Orange County as a Journeyman Electrician
or
Six years of training and graduation from a vocational school or program
or
Six years of technical electrical work experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License by date of hire or promotion.

Based on area of assignment, must have the ability to perform in confined spaces and use safety equipment including respirator equipment per Orange County requirements.
 
Preferences
   State certified or State registered with Orange County as a Journeyman Electrician

Familiarity with local Orange County electrical codes
