CUSTODIAL FOREMAN

FLSA Status: Non-Exempt 

General Functions
   Directs and inspects the cleaning and care of County buildings utilizing proper safety, sanitizing, and approved cleaning practices.

Distinguishing Characteristics of Work

This is routine supervisory work, which involves assigning and inspecting the work and cleaning practices of the cleaning crews. Areas of work and standards to be met are assigned by a supervisor. An incumbent in this position works independently and uses proper judgment after assignments are received.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Night Custodial Supervisor or other designated supervisor, who reviews work through meetings and reports, while in progress and upon completion. An incumbent in this classification uses proper judgment and maintains professional standards at all times. Must thoroughly understand County policy, division policy, safety regulations and private vendor contract guidelines.

Communicates effectively, both orally and in writing. Occasionally works under mentally and physically stressful conditions.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Assigns task to and directly supervises cleaning crews employed by Orange County.
  • Demonstrates a through knowledge and understanding of all equipment, supplies and materials used in the trade.
  • Trains subordinates in proper procedures and follows up as required.
  • Conducts on-site inspections and gives direction as required to all Orange County employees to ensure employee performance and safety.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Graduation from high school or equivalent and five years responsible experience performing custodial works at an industrial or governmental institution. Up to two additional years experience may be substituted for up to two years of the required education.
 
Preferences
   Must possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver’s license.
Must be able to communicate effectively both orally and in writing.
