ASSISTANT MANAGER, COMMUNICATIONS, GRAPHICS

General Functions
   Manages the daily operations of the Graphics Shop and the Copy Center. Develops Strategies to improve customer service and generate more business for Orange County Graphics. Employs cutting edge technology to track jobs and inventory.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Manages the day-to-day operations of the Graphics Print Shop and Copy Center supervising a staff of graphic artists, press operators, copy center specialists, and delivery personnel.
  • Provides excellent customer service to County Departments and Divisions requiring graphic design and printing services. Solicits outside vendors should Graphics not be able to handle the project.
  • Institutes procedures for job tracking, efficient service delivery, inventory control revenue collection and quality assurance.
  • Develops strong customer relations with County Directors, Managers, Constitutional Officers and other County related agencies to generate more business for Graphics.
  • Negotiates leases and or purchases contracts for computers, copiers, printing presses, bindery equipment and other tools necessary for the efficient operation of the Graphics shop.
  • Administers discipline when necessary, following Orange County Policies.
  • Serves on the interview team and assists the Communications Division Manager with the hiring of new employees.
  • Manages the Graphics unit budget and generates monthly reports tracking income versus expenditures, the amount of county business handled by Graphics versus the number of jobs that are outsourced.
  • Stays current with the latest advances in printing technology, copiers and computers to ensure that Graphics operates efficiently and cost effectively with a staff that has the proper training and the tools to remain competitive.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university with a major in a Business related field and three (3) years of supervisory experience in a print shop or corporate print department, or an equivalent combination of education, training or experience. Must have experience creating and monitoring budgets and negotiating lease and purchase contracts.

Must have an understanding of PC and Mac computer platforms and a working knowledge of printing presses, sophisticated color copies, bindery equipment and graphic design software such as Adobe and Quark.
