| General Functions |

Assists dentist in providing dental care to inmates housed in the correctional facilities. |

| Representative Duties /Assignments |
| |
- Assists dentist in diagnostic, operative and surgical procedures.
- Provides oral hygiene instructions and Dental health education to inmates.
- Provides post-operative instructions for routine procedures.
- Schedules all clinical activities, i.e., appointments, coordinating with transportation of inmates from the other facilities.
- Compiles daily procedural statistics for monthly and quarterly reports.
- Keeps monthly up-dated list of inmates seen for initial examination prior to the 90-day incarceration date.
- Maintains chart of all patients as to existing restoration and then necessary treatment.
- Reviews inmate medical charts.
- Exposes and develops routine x-rays.
- Responsible for the security and inventory of supplies, i.e., needles, syringes, instruments and medication.
- Maintains inspection control procedures.
- Sterilizes and disinfects dental instruments and equipment.
- Ensures cleanliness of dental operatory.
- Performs related work as required.

| Minimum Qualifications |
| |
Graduation from high school or equivalent, successful completion of an accredited dental assistant training program, and three years work experience as a dental assistant. |
