LPN (LICENSED PRACTICAL NURSE) TRAINEE

General Functions
  

Participate in a training program in preparation for the examination towards attaining LPN (Licensed Practical Nurse).

Trainees who successfully complete all requirements for obtaining the Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) at an accredited LPN program within the required timeframe will be offered a position as LPN within Orange County Corrections.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Attends and participates in the classes for Practical Nurse program.
  • Attends and participates in clinicals/practicums related to the Practical Nurse Program.
  • Participates in certification assessments designed in preparation for the NCLEX-PN examination towards achieving Licensed Practical Nurse.
  • Performs other duties as required.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  

Completion of a vocational Medical Assistant training program.

Must have 1 year of experience as Medical Assistant with the Orange County Corrections Health Division. Must be able to attain a valid Florida License Practical Nurse license within 1 year from date of hire.

Must be able to work a variety of shifts; including nights and weekends.

Must complete Practical Nurse coursework and successfully pass the NCLEX-PN examination within one year from date of hire in LPN trainee position, and maintain license.

Must be able to meet the entry requirements for Practical Nurse Program.
 
Preferences
  

Experience in direct patient care and/or in a correctional environment.

Proficient in the use of computers.
