BROADCAST ENGINEER

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   Responsible for the technical operations of Orange TV studio and remote productions. Work is performed under the supervision of the Station Manager and is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Per FCC regulations, maintains the broadcast quality, production and transmission capabilities of all Orange TV related equipment.
  • Supervises technical operations of studio and remote productions including site surveys, equipment set up and breakdown, set dressing and lighting.
  • Installs, maintains and troubleshoots broadcast production and transmission equipment.
  • Researches, evaluates and recommends equipment purchases.
  • Develops engineering schematics for transmission routes to integrate digital recording, live editing and on-air playback systems.
  • Maintains and operates satellite and microwave downlink systems.
  • Maintains repair log and generates monthly report on repairs and equipment maintenance.
  • Operates microwave transmission system for live remote productions.
  • Operates broadcast television equipment and computer-based production, programming and engineering systems for live, live-to-tape and edited productions.
  • Operates programming database for master control scheduling.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's degree in Electronics, Engineering, Communications or a closely related field and five years of experience in broadcast television equipment evaluation and repair, remote production planning and execution, and production equipment system design, installation and alignment; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training and experience.
 
Preferences
   Supervision of engineers and production crews.
