ASSISTANT MANAGER, PUBLIC SAFETY COMMUNICATIONS

General Functions
   The Assistant Manager, Public Safety Communications directs staff in the operation of the Government Service Center (3-1-1 Contact Center), providing general information about Orange County divisions and services. They also work closely with department and division leadership, senior elected officials, and officials from other government entities to assure effective media and public relations functions associated with 3-1-1.

Work is performed with independence under the direction of the Enterprise IT Manager and is reviewed on a regular basis through observation and results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Directs daily activities for the Government Service Center.
  • Oversees responses to citizens' requests and inquiries.
  • Develops and implements policies regarding responses to citizens.
  • Works closely with department directors and division managers to guide practices that establish appropriate customer service level.
  • Oversees maintenance and updating of enterprise knowledge management system.
  • Coordinates public information and education initiatives related to 3-1-1.
  • Serve as Emergency Essential employee by disseminating information to the public before, during and after an emergency or disaster.
  • Responsible for the coordination, development, dissemination, and training before, during and after an emergency or disaster while working closely with Emergency Operations Center.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with a major in Communications, Marketing, Public Relations, Business, or a related field, and five (5) years of professional experience in customer service to include one (1) year of supervisory experience in a call center environment; or an equivalent combination of education, training, or experience.

Must possess and maintain a valid Florida driver's license, or possess the ability to obtain by hire date. Must be proficient in the use of Microsoft Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
 
Preferences
   Management of relational database programs experience. Coalition building and coordination with constitutional officers and municipalities project development and management experience.
