ENVIRONMENTAL LOSS PREVENTION ANALYST

General Functions
   This position is responsible for Orange County's petroleum storage tank program to include physical inspections, basic maintenance, examination of required records, contracting third party vendors for corrective action(s) and conducting follow-up investigations to ensure compliance with required State and Federal regulations.

Work is performed with independence under the general supervision of the designated supervisor. Performance is reviewed through observations, conferences, reports and results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Performs internal monthly inspections and tests of regulated tanks and quarterly inspections for non-regulated tanks at Orange County owned facilities with petroleum storage tanks to determine facility compliance with Florida Administrative Code.
  • Participates in various inspections with regulatory agencies as Orange County's liaison.
  • Updates and maintains records and required paperwork.
  • Coordinates corrective actions with third-party vendors and oversees activities.
  • Interacts with County Departments and regulatory agencies as required.
  • Read and interpret construction specifications, submittals and blueprints.
  • Performs basic maintenance of the storage tank systems
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
  
  • High school graduate or equivalent and five years of experience in environmental industry. An Associate's or Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution in Environmental Engineering, Environmental Science or a closely related field may substitute for years of experience on a year-for-year basis.

  • Must possess and maintain a valid State of Florida driver's license and provide own transportation, if necessary.
  • Obtain 40 hour OSHA Hazwopper (29 CFR 1910.120) within 3 months of hire.
  • Must be able to obtain certification as a tank inspector within one year of hire.
  • Must be able to perform job related tasks, which would include but not be limited to: climbing, walking over uneven ground, exposure to dust and fumes, lifting up to 50 lbs, and occasional exposure to adverse weather.
 
Preferences
   Knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook.

Knowledge of state and federal regulations.
