SAFETY AND LOSS PREVENTION ADMINISTRATOR

General Functions
   Administers the safety, loss prevention and environmental management program for the County’s intergovernmental self- insurance program.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Interprets safety/environmental standards and codes, disseminates to departments, and ensures compliance.
  • Develops and recommends the safety/loss prevention and environmental management policies, procedures and standards.
  • Maintains library of safety/environmental related issues and training programs and develops and updates various manuals.
  • Supervises an aggressive safety inspection program to detect and correct hazardous conditions.
  • Directs all activities and projects (including contract procurement management) related to environmental issues to include: asbestos, lead in drinking water, radon gas, underground/above ground storage tanks, toxic materials and indoor air quality issues.
  • Supervises special claim investigations, recommends disciplinary action, and monitors response.
  • Collects and analyses data to determine accident trends and monitors the loss prevention program; develops and recommends new methods to improve program’s effectiveness.
  • Administers a comprehensive vehicle safety plan to promote driver safety and loss prevention.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's degree in Safety, Risk Management or closely related field and five years of experience in safety and/or loss prevention administration with supervisory responsibilities; or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training or experience.

Certified Safety Professional (CSP) or ability to become certified within six months of employment. Knowledge of Microsoft Word and Excel.
 
Preferences
   Knowledge of Microsoft Access and PowerPoint
