General Functions
   Performs administrative work in managing the operations of the County Mayor's office.

This is responsible work of a professional nature involving managing the operations of the County Mayor's office and supervising all aspects of Mayor's staff.

Work is performed under the supervision of the Mayor, who evaluates performance based on achievement of desired results.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Initiates and directs office staff in the research and preparation of special projects.
  • Manages actions of office staff in the response to correspondence and telephone messages for the Chairman.
  • Coordinates activities and functions of the Mayor's office with the County Administrator, County Commissioners, and members of the County Legislative Delegation.
  • Participates in relevant scheduled meetings and advises as to the feasibility of scheduling requests.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for the efficient and effective operation of the Mayor's office.
  • Represents the Mayor, as directed, in meeting with County staff and the public.
  • Prepares and monitors the annual budget of the Mayor's office.
  • Carries out various personnel functions including hiring, training and evaluation of office staff.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Requires a Bachelor's degree in Business, Public Administration or a related field, or three years of administrative, supervisory or management experience, preferably in government or legislative affairs.
