LEGISLATIVE ADMINISTRATOR

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   This position is responsible for administering the internal countywide legislative program to identify, coordinate and track legislative issues and bills that have an impact on the county.

Work is performed independently with supervision provided by the Manager of the Office of Management and Budget.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Tracks and internally reports on the status of countywide legislative priorities.
  • Coordinates communication among county’s internal legislative team.
  • Tracks and coordinates activities of division liaisons as it relates to state and federal legislative activities.
  • Acts as the single point of contact on all legislative surveys and requests for information.
  • Coordinates analysis on the fiscal and operational impacts of proposed legislation and provides input to the County Administrator’s Office and Mayor’s Office.
  • Administers assigned contracts.
  • Assists in the preparation of the legislative priorities presentation to the Board of County Commissioners.
  • Assists with the legislative wrap-up presentation to the Board of County Commissioners.
  • Assists in the planning of Orange County Day in Tallahassee.
  • Assists with efforts as they relate to the legislative delegation.
  • Represents the County at meetings with legislators, public, and board members as assigned.
  • Other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in Public or Business Administration, Political Science, or a closely related field and four (4) years experience in the legislative and political processes.
