ASSISTANT TO THE COUNTY ADMINISTRATOR

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   This position is responsible for a wide variety of highly responsible, complex, and diverse professional duties involved in providing administrative, analytical, and technical support to the County Administrator.

Work is performed under the administrative direction of the County Administrator, and considerable independent judgment, discretion, and initiative are exercised in carrying out daily activities. Work is reviewed based on accuracy, timeliness and effectiveness of results/goals achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Plans, coordinates and participates in various programs and operational initiatives that have county wide impact.
  • Acts as the County Administrator's liaison with the County Commission to ensure full understanding and successful implementation of Commission directives.
  • Participates in the strategic planning process to establish future direction for the County.
  • Advises the County Administrator on policy and/or issues of organizational and community-wide impact and monitors target policy issues.
  • Coordinates activities with various departments, outside agencies, and the general public; and provides information and assistance to internal and external customers.
  • Performs special tasks, tracks multiple projects, directs research projects, addresses projects in needed areas, and prepares letters and reports.
  • Advises the County Administrator on critical matters and provides recommendations for problem resolution based on data/analytics.
  • Represents the County in meetings and makes presentations to government and business agencies to promote the interest of the County on key issues.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in Public or Business Administration or related field and five years of professional experience performing high level administrative duties. Masters degree can be substituted for two years of the required experience.
 
Preferences
   Masters degree in a related field preferred.
