MULTIMEDIA/SPECIAL PROJECTS COORDINATOR

General Functions
  
  • This position performs technical work involving the production, coordination, dissemination, and/or supervision of any of the following: public information, Orange County communications, video projects, photographic project, and multimedia projects.

    Work is performed with considerable independence under supervision of the Manager. Performance is reviewed through completed assignments, reports and project results achieved.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Based on area of assignment may:
    • Prepares and disseminates regular news releases, press releases, and social media posts following AP Style guidelines and ensuring adherence to compliance standards (ADA for websites, WCAG 2.0 & 2.1).
    • Designs and coordinates production of a wide variety of materials which may include: digital/web/mobile, printed collateral and social media content among other material to inform and engage residents.
    • Establishes procedures and develops protocols through various communication platforms to provide Orange County citizens access to information and services.
    • Provide assistance to divisions regarding publicity for programs, services, and polices. Works with media providers and internal divisions (ISS)
    • Uses web content management systems in order to edit/create pages and assist partner departments. Serves as the website lead for the Emergency Support Function (ESF) 14 and Communications Emergency Activation Team and stays abreast of requirements for FEMA Training.
    • Operate video production equipment and write, produce and edit programs. Coordinating video projects. Programs are for internal and external distribution.
    • May train and supervise technical work of others engaged in dissemination of information through various communication platforms.
      If assignment if within the Corrections Division: 
    • Researches digital imagery, video technologies and industry trends and participates with budgets, purchasing, and planning committees to meet current and future video and audio/visual needs.
    • Researches, oversees and coordinates all elements of the video arraignment system at Corrections and the Public Defender to the Orange County Courthouse. Also, responds to equipment malfunctions, makes fiber pull to locations and recommends equipment purchases.
    • Develops and oversees the purchase and installation of software for employee video surveillance system.
    • Performs other duties as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in Communications, Journalism or Web / Graphic Design with major coursework in Media, Marketing, Public Relations or closely related field and three years of experience in applying advanced skills in HTML, website design, WordPress, commercial or graphic arts.
Or
Requires an Associate's degree from an accredited college or university and five (5) years experience in producing, directing and all technical aspects of video production or closely related experience.

Or any equivalent combination of relevant experience and training.
  • May be required to possess and maintain a valid Florida Driver's License.

  • If assignment is in the Communications Division:

    Must possess and maintain a valid Florida class "D" Driver's License or have the ability to obtain within six months of hire/promotion.

  • If assignment is in the Corrections Division:

    Preferences
       Excellent written communication and presentation skills preferred. Bilingual in English/Spanish preferred.
