COUNTY ATTORNEY

FLSA Status: Exempt 

General Functions
   Represent the County in all legal matters affecting County government and represent all constitutional officers upon request. Supervise work associated with performing legal services for the County.
 
Representative Duties /Assignments
  
  • Manage the daily operations of legal department by assigning and reviewing casework of all County attorneys.
  • Providing required legal services to the County such as preparation and prosecution of cases and trial strategy involving the County.
  • Prepare, draft and review various County ordinances, resolutions, and bond provisions, contracts, deeds and other legal documents.
  • Represent County in highly complex litigation before courts.
  • Advise Board members, Commissioners and County Administrator on all County legal problems.
  • Draft legislation to provide for the interests of the County.
  • Review statutory requirements for operating and financing local County government.
  • Prepare Code Enforcement Board information for negotiations and prosecutions.
  • Responsible for various personnel matters including hiring, discipline, training and development, performance appraisals and related activities.
  • Assists in developing and monitoring budget.
  • Performs other duties of a comparable level as assigned.
 
Minimum Qualifications
   Requires Juris Doctorate degree.

Must possess a valid license to practice law in the State of Florida.
